The inaugural “The Report: Vietnam 2017” of Oxford Business Group has been published following its launch on April 25, 2017 in Hanoi. This latest edition mentioned the most significant changes regarding key sectors of the local market to improve the investment environment in Vietnam (especially changes to the legal framework), and the prospects of economic development in 2017.

VCI Legal contributed the legal chapter to this Report. In this part, VCI Legal penned a general overview of the country’s legal system and focused on the amendments and revisions of the laws which concern foreign investors when they invest in Vietnam. Readers can also find update on new regulations regarding the Law on Enterprises, the Law on Investment, the Law on Labor, and “equitization” (a.k.a privatization).

In addition, Mr. Tuan A. Phung, VCI Legal’s Managing Partner, had an interview with Oxford Business Group regarding a topic of legislative changes to improve the business environment. Mr. Phung gave his expert opinions about the positive progress of Vietnamese legal system, particularly by (i) reducing over 100 conditional businesses of the number of conditional business lines; and (ii) increasing the rate of acquiring shares of a public company for foreign investors.
